PSV Academy invites all members of the Symbion Community to attend the StartupTalk#40
Why you should attend:
For all founders – those in-the-making, the soon-to-be, and even the well-versed. This one’s for you – and your sanity.
It’s no secret that early-stage VCs seek outlier founders when looking to invest. The ones with the expertise, the capabilities, and the stamina to keep going no matter what. Above all, they evaluate the founders’ ability to not only meet their potential but to thrive within the uncertainty, the pressure and high pace. If there’s one thing, we’ve learned from investing in more than 400 Danish startups, it’s that the founders and their team set the winners apart from the rest. Especially in the early days, it’s the one thing that determines whether the company will go the distance.
So, the question is: What is the secret sauce of the outliers? How and why do VCs assess the founders’ strengths and weaknesses, and how do they apply those insights when laying the groundwork for success? Now, it might seem like we’re talking about some sort of superhumans, but that’s not the message here. The entrepreneurial path is an exceptional job that requires not only the ability – but also the right tools and framework – to shift gears and adapt to extreme situation without taking in water.
Getting funding is often seen as a big win, but it also comes with an intense pressure to perform. As the company starts to take off, founders experience inflection points in their business – for better or worse. It’s easy for founders to get caught up in running too fast for too long without the right supporting framework and tools to cope with it. First-time founders find themselves being the only first responder when things go sideways, feeling like they can’t be cut off from any company decision even for a minute’s time. This doesn’t only threaten to erode their personal wellbeing, but also compromise the endeavors they dedicated their life to build.
No human being is limitless and throwing more hours into the problem is not a sustainable way of coping. Time and time again we see that founders who know when to reach out for help and external resources have the best odds of making it all the way. Join us as we get nitty-gritty about the I in team.
