From hiring remote talent to building a high performance culture
About this Event
If you’re the founder of a tech startup in DK, you’re most likely considering a distributed setup to access the talent pool outside DK, but you’re also catious, because you’ve heard horror stories about investors being scared of or founders who’ve struggled with e.g. low performance and planning tasks with a decentralised workforce.
Maybe you’re hesitating because it just seems like a distributed organisation would be adding complexity to the already hard job of building a tech company.
Where would you even start looking for talent at afar? If you find them how will you know it’s a match? How do you onboard new people remotely and will the company DNA ever really get under their skin? Can you secure a shared sense of purpose and if not will people then work towards the same goal? What about scaling – one thing is to have a few people spread out but what happens when the organisation grows? And then you haven’t even gotten down to admin stuff like payroll, contracts, holidays etc.
The questions might seem overwhelming and the answers complex, yet the hard facts are that you need the absolut best people on your side to succeed and it’s very unlikely that all of them will be in the same place as you. So to avoid hampering growth, looking abroad for the best candidates will be inescapable to a good portion of founders – especially in the future.
The good news are – that’s the whole point of PreSeed Academy – there are people who have wrestled the challenges before you and at the 17th StartupTalk, a few of them are going to help you put together new pieces to the playbook for building high performing distributed teams.
